Earthen Vessel Poem

Why have You chosen me?

How can this be?

To do Your will, to spread the worship of Your name:

it's a high calling with a high price to be paid.

But I look at You,

more desirable than precious jewels and Hollywood fame,

and the hope I find in the world,

well it just slowly fades away.

You've chosen me for Your purposes,

You've chosen me for my weaknesses.

I'm only an earthen vessel,

but I'm filled to the brim with Your graces.

All I ask is that you keep me humble,

keep me in the shade,

for I yearn for it to be You lifted high

for the world to call on Your name.
